Avoiding The Pitfalls of A Search For Web Hosting
The web hosting market is big business and because of that there are thousands of web hosting companies and thousands of sites trying to take a cut of your web hosting spend.
There are a multitude of web hosting resource sites, which for the most part are filled with advertising.
- Advertising can be useful, but remember that an ad is just marketing hype at the end of the day.
- Avoid any sites that have Top10 / Top25 lists. These are mostly bogus.
- Avoid simple sites that just have a list of hosts, these are probably all affiliate links
You can research a host using several sites, including FindWebHosting. The FindWebHosting site does not have any advertising and no host can buy an unfair advantage.
- Search for what you need & get hosting plans listed in order of price
- Check real time host reliability data
- Reviews that are meaningful and validated
Testimonials From People Searching For Web Hosting Using FindWebHosting.com
WOW ! ! !
You guys have got it together. I am a total newbie & have been searching, & searching, & searching . . . for weeks trying to decide on a hosting company. Once I found your website . . . I was able to make an informed decision in a few hours. I loved checking the reliability & present connect speeds. Then I went to their home pages to see how quickly they loaded (seat of my pants verification). I found several hosting companies with the features & price range that fit my goals. Then I read all the reviews for those companies with more than 50 reviews posted & a rating of 85% or greater. Then I read the forums inside those that I was still interested in.
I can’t think of anything else that I wanted/needed in my methodical (even if a little retentive) approach. I never felt like the info I was looking at was biased by advertising like all those top 25 award sites. (What do you think I’ve been looking at for the last 2 weeks J?) That’s part of what made the connect speeds SO COOL ! ! ! Real world, not hype. Anyway, I’m looking forward to my first endeavor with a hosting company, wish me luck. Now I can move forward knowing that I made a well informed decision . . . without feeling like someone was feeding me a bunch of “big money” bull about to be gored.
NOTE: I went through all 25 award sites for 2 different popular directories & narrowed my search down to one about three weeks ago. I emailed & left a voice mail for them with a simple question to explain the difference between Windows & Linux benefits. I told them that I was planning on using them and to this day . . . nada, zilch, zero, nothing. Oh well, there loss is my gain.
Thanks again, your site is exactly what I needed.
Sincerely,
Kent Southers
I think its a stunning site, very simple to use and have already recommended it to two colleagues who need hosting regularly. I'll be back as soon as I need another hosting plan. Many thanks.
